Brigido Alfar was born
in Carcar on Feb. 1, 1907. A schoolteacher, he
turned to free-lance journalism and publishing.
He was editor of Bag-ong Kusog; associate
editor of Babaye and publisher of Mindanaw-Kabisay-an.
He wrote poetry and fiction in English and Cebuano.
A respected poet, Alfar published his first work
in 1927 and has produced some 22 stories and 120
poems. As publisher, he printed and marketed assorted
Cebuano works, including his own literary collection,
Mga Balud sa Pagdanhum (1953).
