Martin
Abellana was born in San Nicolas in 1904 and is a Filipino
Visayan writer. He graduated from the Cebu
Normal Insitute, and became a teacher in public and private schools for 30
years. In the years 1956 to 1958, he was the president of the LUDABI, a group of writers in Cebuano,
and editor of Ang Dagang Bisaya, the LUDABI publication.
His novels are characterized by a concern for the
working class.
