Victor Dennis Tino Nierva
belongs to the new generation of Bikolano writers—dreaming
big for his native literature. He was fellow at
the 44th UP National Writers Workshop (Poetry
in Bikol) and at the 1st Ateneo (AILAP) Workshop
on Scriptwriting for Film and Television. A collection
of his poems was shortlisted in the 2006 Premio
Tomas Arejola para sa Literaturang Bikolnon. He
is also a member of the Kabulig: Bikol Writers
Group. Writing poetry in three languages: Bikol,
English and Tagalog, his works have been published
in a number of literary anthologies; he also writes
for national periodicals. At present, he is on
leave from his Journalism classes at the Ateneo
de Naga University to pursue a master's degree
in creative writing at the University of the Philippines.
