DEPED and CHED Endorse Third National Conference and Seminar-Workshop on Children's Literature (repost)

The Pilandokan Inc. (National Research Society for Children's Literature) in cooperation with  the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the  University of the Philippines  College of Arts and Letters (CAL), invites  scholars, writers, illustrators, teachers, students and advocates of children’s literature to the 3rd National Conference and Seminar-Workshop on Children’s Literature. This will be held at the Claro M. Recto Hall, College of Arts and Letters, UP Diliman, Quezon City on October 14-16, 2011.

The conference seeks to explore ways in which educators, advocates, writers and publishers of children’s literature can share  approaches, techniques and findings with regard to production, teaching , research and criticism of children’s literature in the Philippines.  The conference will cover practical and relevant topics on the genres and aspects of children’s literature, namely: poetry, picture book, television program, translation, retelling, illustration, creative storytelling, and issues concerning science and medicine in children’s literature.    Workshops  will  be held to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in the teaching, writing, production and advocacy of children’s literature.   The participants’ output will then be collated and reviewed for possible publication  by the Pilandokan, Inc.

Registration fee is PhP 3,000.00 (for regular participants) and PhP  2,000.00 (for undergraduate students).  This is inclusive of conference kit, snacks and lunch for  three (3) days, copies of papers presented and conference proceedings of  previous conferences.  The first 50 delegates to register may avail a discounted rate at PhP 2,500.
