BLTX, small-press expo is on 2 March 2012, Friday, at Ilyong’s on Kalantiaw, Project 4, QC, 8PM onwards. BLTX Talks in on 3 March 2012, Saturday, at Chef’s Bistro at 94 Sct Gandia cor. Tomas Morato, 2PM to 8PM. Better Living Through Xeroxography or BLTX is a small-press expo now on its second incarnation, the first one a success by indie standards: 30 small press publishers and 200 buyers on a rainy December day in 2010.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines' "Pasinaya 2012: CCP Open House Festival" on February 26, 2012 will feature Ilonggo performances with the Dinagyang Festival as its main feature. Dinagyang Festival 2012 1st runner-up, Tribu Lunok of Iloilo City National High School, will perform five times on the said Festival. Pasinaya is known as "the largest multi-arts festival in the country involving almost 5,000 artists and 300 shows in a single day."

Walong bagong makatang-boluntaryo ng Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA) ang ipakikilala at manunumpa sa  Peb. 21, 2012, sa LIRAhan: Tulaan sa Conspiracy Bar, Visayas Avenue, Lungsod Quezon.

Ang mga bagong kasapi ng LIRA ay sina Roy Rene Cagalingan, Paul Castillo, Dakila Cutab, Christa De La Cruz, Kriscell Largo Labor, Allan Lenard Ocampo, Andrew Salut,  at Luigi James Tana.  Sila ang mga nagsipagtapos sa mga programa ng Taunang Palihang Pampanulaan 2011 ng LIRA, na itinatag bilang Rio Alma Poetry Clinic noong 1985.

On February 24, on the eve of the main Panagbenga event in Baguio, UP Baguio, in cooperation with the National Commission on Cultural and the Arts, will celebrate National Arts Month through a literary reading (and performances) at 4 pm, at the Abraham Sarmiento Hall. Carrying the theme “The Arts and the Environment,” the reading will feature Baguio writers, Mr. Mighty Rasing of GUMIL (Gunglo ti Mannurat Ilokano), performers from Benguet State University and Sto. Tomas Elementary School, and Dr. Michael Bengwayan.

The Mindanao Creative Writers Group, Inc., and the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) are accepting applications from writers to the 19th Iligan National Writers Workshop (INWW) to be held on May 14-18, 2012 in Iligan City.

Panelists this year are Erlinda Kintanar Alburo, Leoncio P. Deriada, Merlie M. Alunan, German V. Gervacio, Steven Patrick C. Fernandez, Ralph Semino Galan, J. Neil Garcia, John Iremil Teodoro and Christine Godinez-Ortega and this year’s keynote speaker, Victor N. Sugbo.

Ipagdiriwang ng Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA) ngayong buwan ng Pebrero, sa palagiang “LIRAhan”, isang tulaan sa Conspiracy Bar, Visayas Avenue, Lungsod Quezon, ang akda at ambag sa panitikang Filipino ng makatang Teo T. Antonio.  Kasabay ng pagpupugay ang lungsad-aklat ng pinakabagong koleksyon ng tula ni Rebecca Añonuevo, ang Isa Lang Ang Pangalan, na inilathala ng University of Santo Tomas Publishing House.

The 12th IYAS Creative Writing Workshop is now accepting applications. The workshop will be held from April 22 – 28 at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City. Fellows will be given a grant to cover board and lodging and partial transportation subsidy. The panelists will be Dr. Marjorie Evasco, Ms. Grace Monte de Ramos, Dr. D.M. Reyes, Dr. Genevieve Asenjo, Prof. John Iremil Teodoro, and Dr. Ronald Baytan.

LIKHAAN: The UP Institute of Creative Writing joins the UP Writers Club in celebrating National Arts Month through a satellite project for the 2012 Taboan Writers Festival.  Titled Edith and Kerima: A Tribute-Exhibit on the Lives and Works of Two Icons of Philippine Literature, the project honors the memory of two great literary mothers:  National Artist for Literature Edith Tiempo, and prose stylist and editor Kerima Polotan Tuvera.

Art Republik, a new TV show that features Filipino artists and writers, debuts February 28 on Knowledge Channel at 8:40 p.m. Art Republik is a 30-minute program on Philippine arts and culture, profiling 51 artists from various art fields and two art collectors or a total of 53 guests for its first season. The first season of Art Republik carries 13 episodes anchored on themes, which are based on cultural traits.

PAF is a month-long and nationwide activity that aims to promote Philippine culture and the arts, highlighting the empowerment of the Filipino creativity and imagination. This 2012 celebration will be a call to hope, a challenge to act, an invitation to commit, a celebration of creativity and an affirmation of Filipino’s inner strength that can be a catalyst for social transformation.
