AILAP - Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices

The Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP) offers yearly fellowships in creative writing for young writers across the nation. Its writing workshops cater to aspiring writers, presenting them with the fundamentals of writing as craft, art, and philosophical engagement so that they can enter the mainstream of Philippine Literature with a sense of responsibility that adds depth and direction to national cultural practices. More importantly, AILAP integrates the intellectual mainstreams of the Ateneo education to inspire individual writers in pursuing projects that are relevant to the history of ideas and the cultural traditions of the country.

The institute promotes the distinct and diverse literary practices of the University through symposia, fora, conferences, publications, poetry readings, cultural programs, and literary festivals. Its forthcoming projects include the inauguration of the AILAP Award for Outstanding Literary Debut, an annual translation workshop, and teaching modules from its Literary Studies Desk to influence the teaching of Filipino Literature in the national elementary and secondary schools curricula.
