KUTING (Kuwentista ng mga Tsikiting)

KUTING (Kuwentista ng mga Tsikiting) was born during the 1995 UP Writers' Workshop, a group which was devoted to writers and illustrators for children. In 2000, the group was cited by the Reading Association of the Philippines 'for having professionalized writing for children, raising it to the level of art, and for ensuring the emergence of the Golden Age of children's literature.'

It is a group of writers for children made up of people from various fields. It is comprised of journalists, university professors and lecturers, a doctor, homemakers, visual artists, writers for TV, college students, an analyst, freelance writers and many more.

Most have published one or several books for children, and quite a few have won numerous literary awards. KUTING writers come together to support one another as writers, push for writers' rights in the children's book publishing industry, and share with each other opportunities for growth as Filipino children's book authors.
